A QR (Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional matrix barcode invented in 1994 by Denso Wave. Unlike traditional barcodes, QR codes encode information in both directions, storing up to 4,296 alphanumeric characters. They incorporate built-in error correction using Reed-Solomon codes, remaining scannable even when partially damaged.
