They represent the same thing differently. HEX uses 6 hexadecimal characters (#RRGGBB), RGB uses three 0-255 decimal values. Both specify red, green, and blue channel intensity. HEX is more compact in CSS; RGB is more readable for programmatic adjustments.
Screens use additive color mixing (RGB—light added), printing uses subtractive (CMYK—inks absorb light). Some screen colors cannot be exactly reproduced in print. Our converter provides approximate CMYK values.
